More than 2,000 Saudi citizens have joined radical Islamic terror groups in foreign countries. It’s not me saying that; it’s the kingdom’s own interior ministry:
“The number of Saudis proven to be in conflict areas is 2,093,” interior ministry spokesman General Mansour al-Turki told daily newspaper Al-Hayat.
He said that 1,540 of them were in Syria, where jihadists have flocked since the Islamic State group seized control of vast areas in mid-2014.
It’s not very surprising, of course, that the majority of Saudi jihadists are fighting in Syria. After all, that’s where the main battle between radical Islam and the rest of the world is currently taking place.
However, jihadists from Saudi Arabia are also highly active in other countries — 147 are supposedly in Yemen, another 31 are in Afghanistan or Pakistan (fighting for Al Qaeda and the Taliban), and five are fighting alongside terror groups in Iraq. In total, 73 Saudis have been arrested abroad on terrorism-related charges.
Although the West loves to pretend that Saudi Arabia is our ally, the truth of the matter is that the kingdom is one of the main sponsors of radical Islam worldwide. The official religion of Saudi Arabia is Wahhabism, a very strict and fundamentalist version of Islam. Sharia is the official law of the land: women accused of adultery are stoned to death, gays are killed, political opponents are jailed and tortured.
From the moment they are born, Saudi children are indoctrinated in Wahhabism. Although the United States responded angrily after 9/11 when it was discovered that Saudi Arabian textbooks (for children) were filled with hatred towards non-Muslims, little to nothing has been done about it by Saudi officials. For instance, here’s a quote from an 8th-grade textbook:
The Apes are the people of the Sabbath, the Jews; and the Swine are the infidels of the communion of Jesus, the Christians.
Since this is what Saudi Arabia teaches its children, it can’t possibly surprise anyone that more than 2,000 Saudi adults have decided to join jihad and kill as many non-Muslims as they possibly can.
It’s time for Europe and the United States to finally hold Saudi Arabia to account. The radical Islamic kingdom has gotten away with this for far too long. Publicly they pretend to get along with the West, but privately they tell their own children their number-one task in life is to — literally! — destroy us and our way of life.
