Connecticut: Dem Congressman Beats Wrestling Magnate for Lieberman's Seat

A Democratic congressman has stopped wrestling magnate Linda McMahon’s second bid for a Senate seat in Connecticut.

With 4 percent of precincts reporting, Rep. Chris Murphy led his Republican challenger 65 percent to 33.7 percent.

The race was to fill the seat of retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).

McMahon tried for the Senate in 2010 but lost to Richard Blumenthal (D) by 12 percent. This time it was closer heading into Election Day, and she even ran an ad in which black supporters tell voters it’s OK to vote for both McMahon and Obama.

Obama appeared in a TV ad endorsing Murphy.
