Madden 11 accurately predicted who would win the Super Bowl

They didn’t have the Steelers in the big game to lose it, but EA’s marquee game franchise, Madden, did get the winner right when they ran the simulation back in Sept 2010, a time when hardly anyone had the Packers in the Super Bowl conversation:

Brett Favre may still be gunslinging up in Minnesota, but it’ll be his longtime fans in Green Bay, Wisconsin, that will celebrate a Super Bowl win this February, according to Electronic Arts.

EA Sports, publisher of the Madden NFL videogame franchise, has taken its latest game iteration (Madden NFL 11) and run through the upcoming 2010 NFL season, offering at least a simulated insight into who’ll be celebrating in Arlington, Texas, after Super Bowl XLV.

The bit about Favre is among several details the sim got wrong, like not seeing that Black Eyed Peas half time train wreck coming, while getting the overall winner and many other details right.

Maybe EA can simulate the Middle East and give the Obama administration a clue on what to do about Egypt.
