This Police State Is a Lot More Stress-Free Than I'd Imagined

Stephen Kruiser

I'm not sure if any of you have heard, but we're living under a fascist dictator in a police state during the darkest time in the history of the United States of America. At least that's what the oh-so-loud people on the American Left keep saying.

My response to that is to raise a glass and say that I'm all-in for a lot more of this.

This was inspired by something that Chris wrote earlier on Monday. New York Magazine is the latest lefty publication to craft an article about a dystopian America that exists only in its readers' minds. The words "police state" were dutifully included, as they are no doubt being insisted upon by the Democratic National Committee when it issues orders to its media lapdogs.

One of my first thoughts every time I read about the alleged police state here is that a time-traveling East German from 1968 would get a real laugh out of that.

From my quiet workspace, I looked out the window and thought about how relatively relaxed and peaceful my life has been since President Trump was inaugurated for his second term back in January. It's been a good run since then, especially after the previous four years. Sure, there have been normal life things to deal with that weren't pleasant, but none of them were government-induced.

I don't worry about the government knocking at my door. I don't worry about running afoul of the law because I keep a firearm on my desk and next to my bed. In fact, if I was worrying about my Second Amendment rights being violated, it would mean that I was a resident of one of the ultra blue states living under a tyrannical Democratic governor like Gavin Newsom, Tim Walz, or Maura Healey.

You know, it's almost as if the lefties are back to their old projection ways again. Kidding, they never abandoned them.

I've spent a lot of time this year traveling and spending time with friends and relatives. We've enjoyed a lot of good food, booze and company (the feature image for this column is from my mom's birthday dinner in August). If this is a police state, the government is really not doing it well. Any old Soviet Union types who still have their wits about them are no doubt poo-pooing the effort Trump and his administration are allegedly putting into the effort to pay homage to them.

One of the oddest things about this year is that, while I am enjoying this halcyon time in my life, the leftists are twisting themselves into misery solely because they reflexively seek misery. I would love it if all Americans were enjoying things as much as I am, but the people on the other side of the aisle choose not to.

I've got a gorgeous ahi filet that I am going to prepare for dinner tonight here in the Dems' nonexistent post-apocalypse; I better get to that.
