If You Believe in this Country, Send a Check to Ty Woods' Family
Our president may be a self-interested narcissist who goes to campaign and fund raise in Vegas when Americans under his watch are dying in Libya, but you and I -- as patriotic citizens of this country, not to mention empathic humans -- can behave differently. My wife Sheryl Longin and I just sent a small check to the Ty Woods Memorial Account (c/o The Irving Group, 4320 La Jolla Village Drive, San Diego, CA 92122) to help the family of the former SEAL who died in the Benghazi terror attack. Woods has a widow and a baby son.
As we now know, emails arrived at the White House (and many other government venues) at 4:05PM and subsequently 4:51 and 6:05 on September 11 informing all concerned that a terror attack was then occurring at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and that Ansar al-Islam was taking credit.
We have also learned that in the hours between these initial reports and the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and other American personnel the U.S. military could have been brought in. They were only hours off shore. It is impossible to know if they would have saved lives, but we do know that nothing was attempted.
The moral reprobate currently occupying the White House avoided (or maybe even forgot about) those decisions and instead later hid behind bogus claims these murders were all because of an unwatchable YouTube video made by some inept wannabe filmmaker in Los Angeles. This quondam filmmaker has now even been arrested for other minor malfeasances in a kind of show trial strategy redolent of the Soviet Union of the 1930s. (Yes, I know that sounds exaggerated, but it's time to remember the old French saying: Le plus ça change, le plus c'est la même chose.... The more it changes, the more it's the same.)
