Kamala Harris and the Left’s Flight From Decency and Reality

The left is obsessed with Donald Trump and would like nothing better than for you to think that everything was all right until he came along. If you tune into CNN or pick up the New York Times or any of the other leftist mythmaking machines, you’ll enter a world in which the mighty ship of state was sailing on through placid waters, guided under the wise hands of Barack Obama and Old Joe Biden into the quiet lands of globalist socialism and managed decline, until that fateful day in 2015 when Trump announced that he was running for president, and everything went haywire.

Now, the basic decency that always characterized American politics is gone, and replacing it is Trump’s incipient authoritarianism. Men who think they’re women cower in their hovels in terror, denied all access and opportunity. Jackbooted ICE agents beat on the doors of terrified gardeners and groundskeepers and haul them away in the middle of the night to suffer unimaginable horrors in Trump’s gulag for black and brown people. Once Trump is gone, if he hasn’t destroyed the good, leftist, “love is love” America altogether, the good and the righteous and the decent will reemerge from the shadows, and our good and pleasant land will resume its status as a welcoming place for all.

That’s the myth. Reality, as is so often the case, is quite a bit different from leftist fantasy. And as is so often the case, leftists are once again accusing their enemies of the very things they are guilty of doing. Decency has indeed vanished from American politics, and that is the left’s fault, not Donald Trump’s.

Consider the latest from the woman who would be president (okay, one of them), Kamala Harris. Speaking in Los Angeles on Monday, Harris said: “There's so much about this moment that is making people feel like they've lost their minds. When, in fact, these motherf*****s are crazy.”

At the risk of sounding like a seventh-grade teacher, watch your language, Ms. Harris. What are you, a Bowery barmaid? When did it become acceptable, even among green-haired, tattooed, pierced leftists, to start throwing around the word “motherf****r” in what is supposed to be a political speech for general consumption?

Back in Jan. 2019, when the winsome Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Gaza City) said of Trump: “We’re gonna impeach the motherf****r,” even some of her fellow Democrats rebuked her. According to the Associated Press, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Smirnoff) “rejected Tlaib’s profanity and her impeachment promise.” Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Hate Israel) said gently: “I think some of our new members probably don’t realize that you are always on, that when you are a member of Congress there’s always someone listening.”

The late Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Planned Parenthood) chalked it up to Tlaib’s inexperience: “She’s a freshman. It’s her first day here. She went in front of an enthusiastic crowd of her supporters and it was red meat for them. She yielded to that temptation. I’m sure upon reflection she might choose other words to describe her feelings.” Trump himself added that “her comments were disgraceful. I think she dishonored herself and her family. I thought it was highly disrespectful to the United States of America.”

Nearly seven years later, Harris uses the same word like it’s nothing, and no one utters a syllable of rebuke. White House spokesman Kush Desai addressed her charge, but not her choice of words, saying: "Kamala Harris should listen to an audio recording of her cackle of a laugh before calling anyone crazy."

Then there’s Harris’ claim, for which she has been widely ridiculed, that she came within a whisker of cackling right into the Oval Office: “Here’s the other thing that is quite unprecedented — and, it was the tightest, closest presidential election in the 21st Century. He does not have a mandate! That is not a mandate! That is not a mandate!" In reality, there have been more than a few closer elections in the 21st century, including that of 2000 (if you count that one as being in the 21st century), 2004, 2016, and 2020.

People can look up the results for themselves. Many of us know this because we remember the events unfolding at the time. So is Harris completely divorced from reality, or counting on the ignorance and forgetfulness of the American people?

The latter is more likely. The left has been at an increasingly hot war against reality for quite some time now, insisting that we pretend that Rachel Levine and Dylan Mulvaney are women, and that Joe Biden was competent, and that Trump was the fascist, while they were the ones moving to silence and destroy their opponents. They lie constantly and demand that we accept the lies on pain of deplatforming and ostracization.

This is how the left operates, and Kamala Harris has just given us yet another example of it. The left is increasingly the faction of foul-mouthed, hate-filled fantasists who insist that we must embrace their most cherished delusions, or else. It’s a good thing that leftists really don’t have a mandate, and patriots can hope they never get one.
