It’s becoming increasingly evident that Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are not finding the smoking gun they were hoping for in the enhanced FBI investigation they demanded into allegations that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh assaulted multiple women and that he made fart jokes in high school. They were hoping against hope to dig up some salacious new dirt on Kavanaugh, but the investigation appears to have turned up a giant nothingburger. But instead of backing off and admitting they were wrong, they’ve resorted to double-talk about what was contained in the report. And, of course, voicing (in their best shocked! voices) their grave, grave concerns that the investigation was rigged all along or something.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) was first out of the box, blasting a tweet by the Senate Judiciary Committee stating that there was not so much as a “whiff” of anything related to sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh, according to the FBI report.
As part of Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to #SCOTUS, the FBI conducted its SIXTH full-field background investigation of Judge Kavanaugh since 1993. As part of these 6 prior FBI investigations, the FBI interviewed nearly 150 different people who know Judge Kavanaugh personally. 1/2

Nowhere in any of these six FBI reports, which the committee has reviewed on a bipartisan basis, was there ever a whiff of ANY issue – at all – related in any way to inappropriate sexual behavior or alcohol abuse. 2/2

This tweet is not accurate. Committee Republicans must correct it. See our letter here: https://t.co/trJ9ymDjee https://t.co/cCVpAwCzEI

Durbin didn’t offer anything to back that claim up, but nevertheless threw it out into the media morass in order to cast doubt on the FBI investigation.
Which led Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) to tell CNN’s Andrew Cuomo that he had no clue what Durbin was yammering on about.

Fake Vietnam vet and current Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) bellyached to MSNBC that the FBI investigation was “woefully incomplete” and said “it smacks of a whitewash, even a cover-up.”
(I’m old enough to remember when… like 15 minutes ago… Democrats believed you were committing a literal atrocity if you criticized the FBI.)
Because the FBI documents are shrouded in secrecy with only a handful of senators and staffers permitted to view them, the Democrats, with apparently nothing to show for their screeching demands for an investigation, have pivoted to innuendo about something really, really bad in the docs.
But Democrat presidential hopeful and left-wing darling Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) gave away the game when asked if the FBI report contained any new information. NBC buried this lede in the very last paragraph of their article about Dem reactions. “Nope,” Harris told reporters, adding, “This so-called investigation leaves a lot more questions than answers.”
The answer Kamala was looking for was the smoking gun that would get Kavanaugh removed from consideration as a Supreme Court justice — and probably get his soul cast into hell to boot. So far, it looks like they’ve come up empty
