Police Officers Surprise Daughter of Fallen Cop in Graveside Prom Night Tribute

Just three and a half years ago, 13-year-old Sierra Bradway of Indianapolis lost her father. He was a cop, and at the age of 41 he died in the line of duty. He was shot by a man who was holding a woman and her baby hostage.

This year it was time for Sierra to go to her senior prom and she wanted to make sure that her father was still a part of her day. She decided that she and her date, Brock Spayd, would take some pictures at her dad’s grave site. That’s when the day became even more special.

Scary Mommy has the scoop:

When Spayd’s mother, who is a captain at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, learned that, she asked the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) to surprise Sierra at the cemetery.

They came through in spades.

When Sierra and Brock arrived at her father’s grave, dozens of officers from multiple agencies, as well as IMPD Chief Bryan Roach, were there to welcome them.

The gesture by the officers led to laughter and tears, but most importantly, Sierra felt a lot of love that day. Her father’s memory lived on through the huge hearts of the other police officers, and now her prom will be something that she will never forget.

The police department posted lots of photos of the big event to its Twitter page. You can see the dozens of officers who showed up to honor their friend and his daughter.
