Professor Thinks All Masculinity Is Toxic

Toxic masculinity is a myth. If you actually look at the behaviors the Left is labeling toxic, you find behaviors that either most men find abhorrent or that have been grossly misrepresented to mean things other than what they do.

For example, many feminists decry the opening of doors for women, complaining that somehow men don’t think women are capable. Of course, the reality is that men do it simply to be polite for someone worthy of respect. Those same men also open the door for elders, the military, or others they hold in high regard.

One feminist professor at Occidental College has taken the idea of toxic masculinity and turned it on its head. She says the problem isn’t toxic masculinity, but all masculinity.

From Campus Reform:

A feminist professor at Occidental College recently argued that men must renounce their masculinity and “denounce anyone who chooses to identify with it.”

Lisa Wade, a sociology professor at Occidental, published an essay for Public Books calling for people to “attack masculinity directly” to help the nation survive in the wake of President Trump, who she says perpetuates a “vile enactment of masculinity.”

“If we’re going to survive both President Trump and the kind of people he has emboldened, we need to attack masculinity directly,” she said, clarifying that she doesn’t want to see a “kinder, gentler version of it,” but that she wants it done away with completely.

Calling masculinity a “dangerous idea,” Wade argues that the Trump presidency was caused not merely by toxic forms of masculinity, but by the fact that masculinity itself is toxic.

“We are here in Trump’s America in part because we have been too delicate in our treatment of dangerous ideas. The problem is not toxic masculinity; it’s that masculinity is toxic,” she writes, adding that masculinity is “simply not compatible with liberty and justice for all.”

Of course, Wade fails to understand that it’s masculinity that’s needed to fight wars that free people from oppression or genocide. It’s masculinity that drives men to rush in when a woman is being attacked.

Not only is masculinity compatible with liberty and justice for all, masculinity is the only thing that could ever ensure it. All Wade’s notion would do is make life easy for the predators in our midst.

Do you think male criminals will embrace the idea that masculinity is flawed and somehow start acting like women? Of course not, and anyone who thinks so is a complete moron.

There will always be predators and prey, and unfortunately, most of those predators will be male. Luckily, rough men stand ready to stop them with violence.

As it should be.
