CNN: Trump's Twitter Venting Against FBI Is Just What Russia Wants

“Wittingly or not, President Donald Trump spent the Presidents Day weekend doing the Kremlin’s work,” CNN “reports.” The author of this article, CNN’s Stephen Collinson, continues:

It may be months before Americans learn whether special counsel Robert Mueller will validate or reject allegations that Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with Moscow’s election meddling operation.

But Trump’s three days of Twitter venting against the FBI, his political opponents and the Russia investigation from his Mar-a-Lago resort are likely to further incite mistrust in the institutions of democracy and government, which the Russian intervention was designed to foment.

Any ebbing of public trust in the bureau as a result of Trump’s assaults can only be good news for Russia, since the FBI is responsible for detecting and preventing Russian espionage in the United States and depends on public support for its legitimacy.

So Collinson argues that Trump is doing the Russians’ job for them, and “undermining U.S. democracy,” because he has the audacity to criticize the FBI.

Wait a minute. Since when does the FBI — or any law enforcement or intelligence agency — represent “U.S. democracy” more than the democratically elected president does?

CNN can’t help but try to discredit Trump’s presidency. Every day, every hour, viewers are told that Trump didn’t win the election fair and square. He is not supposed to be president. He colluded with the Russians. Yet no evidence for any of these accusations has ever been presented. Their list of false narratives goes on and on.

If there’s anyone undermining “U.S. democracy,” it’s CNN.
