Holiday edition of the Briefing with some quick hits:
Patriotism hits an all-time low according to a new Gallup poll. Only 47% say they are extremely proud to be an American, the second year for a sub-50% figure. The number is dragged down by Democrats, no surprise there. Only 22% say they are extremely proud to be American. Maybe we can run an exchange program for disgruntled lefties with any number of the 100k people who risk their lives to come here each month. Those folks seem to want to be here. Just a thought.
People are still freaking out over Trump’s military parade today. Democrat D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said on MSNBC she hoped “that we never see this spectacle of our military force being on display as a show of force to our own people.” Show of force to our own people? Finally, Trump is still trying to get the citizenship question on the census.
“The Departments of Justice and Commerce have now been asked to reevaluate all available options following the Supreme Court’s decision and whether the Supreme Court’s decision would allow for a new decision to include the citizenship question on the 2020 Decennial Census,” the DOJ said Wednesday in a letter to another federal judge in New York.
“In the event that the Commerce Department adopts a new rationale for including the citizenship question on the 2020 Decennial Census consistent with the decision of the Supreme Court, the Government will immediately notify this Court so that it can determine whether there is any need for further proceedings or relief.”
