The Morning Briefing: Million Migrant March and Much, Much More

Sec. Pompeo is not amused: thousands of migrants continue to march toward the U.S. border

The caravan of 7,000+ South Americans is marching toward the U.S. A couple thousand invaders were intercepted and returned to Guatemala and Honduras.

On Sunday night, Pompeo — who met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Mexican Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray Caso — went on the offensive, alleging in a statement that many of the migrants were criminals themselves.

“We also are deeply concerned by the violence provoked by some members of the group, as well as the apparent political motivation of some organizers of the caravan,” Pompeo said.

“As President Trump has stated, consistent with U.S. law, the United States will not allow illegal immigrants to enter or remain in the United States,” said Pompeo, who offered no examples of violence instigated by the migrants.

The travelers have said they are fleeing unemployment and violence in Honduras.

Of course they say that. We don’t know who these people are. Are they criminals, gang members, human and sex traffickers? We have no idea and yet they are glorified by the media. We simply must embrace them.

Full efforts are being made to stop the onslaught of illegal aliens from crossing our Souther Border. People have to apply for asylum in Mexico first, and if they fail to do that, the U.S. will turn them away. The courts are asking the U.S. to do things that are not doable!

The WaPo has a heartwarming story for you titled: ‘It’s time for me to go back’: Deportees join migrant caravan to return to U.S.

And then there were the deportees. Many of the migrants here had previously lived in the United States, for years or even decades, joining the caravan to reunite with their children, or to resume old jobs. They were undeterred by the American authorities who had apprehended them or the U.S. president who promised to keep them out again.

Some of them had returned voluntarily to their home countries long ago, but eventually determined that there was nothing there for them. Now, they were traversing Mexico while President Trump tweeted about their journey, demanding that the migrants apply for asylum in Mexico before continuing north, threatening to close the U.S. border as Mexican authorities appeared to allow the caravan to proceed.

“It’s time for me to go back to the United States. It’s a country where I can live my life, unlike Guatemala,” said Job Reyes, 36, who had spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Los Angeles, attending kindergarten through high school there.

Really?

The deportees and returnees were clear about their intentions to cross the border illegally, hoping to slip between patrol officers.

“It’s the only way,” said Nestor Reyes, 34, whose son was with his wife in Columbus, Ohio. He’d been calling her periodically on the journey to check in.

Some of them are certainly criminals, so why should we welcome them back in?

Trump and the Russian treaty

Wow, talk about cognitive dissonance for the treasonous RUSSIA collusion crowd: President Trump announced his intention to withdraw from the IMF treaty. That doesn’t sound like something a RUSSIAN stooge would do. I wonder what’s going on here? Will the RUSSIANS now make public the alleged pee-pee tape in retaliation?

NSA John Bolton is in RUSSIA now having some very tense meetings.

Trump said Russia has violated terms of the treaty that prohibit the U.S. and Russia from possessing, producing or test-flying ground-launched nuclear cruise missiles with a range of 500 to 5,500 kilometers (300 to 3,400 miles).

Russia has repeatedly denied allegations that it has produced and tested such a missile.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted as telling state news agency Tass that leaving the treaty “would be a very dangerous step.”

It would “cause the most serious condemnation from all members of the international community who are committed to security and stability.”

Even Gorby popped in: “Washington’s desire to turn back politics cannot be supported. Not only Russia, but also all who cherish the world, especially a world without nuclear weapons, must declare this,” Gorbachev was quoted as telling the Interfax news agency.

Bolton will meet with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today and Trump puppetmaster Putin on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

I’m not sure why the media is more upset about this Saudi guy than they were about Daniel Pearl, who was beheaded by some neighborhood Islamists, are you? Countries do all sorts of unsavory things, most we don’t know about, and we maintain relationships with them out of mutual interests. How many journalists are locked up in Turkey right now? The holier-than-thou media doesn’t care. Where was the outrage when Obama drone-killed U.S. citizen Anwar al Awlaki? But now, the Saudis are the worst! Let’s end our alliance with them! Long live Iran! Whoops…too soon.

I agree with my friend Kurt Schlichter, who writes, “This may shock you, but I care less that a bunch of foreign barbarians killed a foreign barbarian supporter in a foreign country than I do about illegal alien foreign barbarians here in America killing Americans. A lot less.” Amen, brother.
