House Republicans are calling on Democrats to condemn Louis Farrakhan, the anti-Semitic leader of the Nation of Islam (a designated hate group), in the wake of revelations that eight Democratic members have ties to him — including the third-ranking member in the House and the DNC’s second-in-command.
Those members are Reps Keith Ellison (D-MN), Maxine Waters (D-CA), Danny Davis (D-Il), Al Green (D-TX), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Andre Carson (D-IN), Gregory Meeks (D-NY), and James E. (Jim) Clyburn (D-SC).

The Republican Jewish Coalition has called on seven of those members (minus Clyburn) to resign due to their support for Farrakhan.
Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN) introduced a resolution Tuesday condemning Farrakhan for “promoting ideas that create animosity and anger” toward Jewish Americans and the Jewish religion, and condemning “all manifestations of expressions of racism, anti-Semitism, and ethnic or religious intolerance.”
The Anti-Defamation League calls Farrakhan “the leading anti-Semite in America,” who for 30 years “has espoused and promoted anti-Semitism and racism” and “has repeatedly alleged that the Jewish people were responsible for the slave trade, as well as the 9/11 attacks.”

In 1984, Farrakhan actually called Adolf Hitler “a very great man” who “raised Germany up from nothing.”
Farrakhan has long preached to his followers that “a mother wheel” hovers over the earth — “a heavily armed” space ship of death that will “rain destruction upon white America, but save those who embrace the Nation of Islam.”
His latest racist and anti-Semitic eruption came during the Nation of Islam’s “Saviours’ Day” convention on Feb. 25, 2018.
“White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by God’s grace, has pulled the cover off of that Satanic Jew and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through,” Farrakhan said in his address.
Farrakhan proudly posted that portion of his nearly four-hour speech on Facebook:
“There is no place in our civil discourse for this clear anti-Semitism and hate for another group of human beings,” Rokita said in a statement. “I urge my House colleagues to join me in condemning Louis Farrakhan’s hateful and anti-Semitic attacks, while also reaffirming our nation’s commitment to our Jewish neighbors and our greatest ally, the nation of Israel.”
Republicans are calling the the House Democrats who have ties to Farrakhan “the Hateful Farrakhan 8.”
Several of them have met with Farrakhan—including Democratic National Committee Deputy Chair Rep. Keith Ellison, and Congressional Black Caucus Reps. Andre Carson and Gregory Meeks. The three of them attended a dinner with Farrakhan in 2013 hosted by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Both Carson and Ellison met privately with Farrakhan in 2016 as well, the Washington Post fact-checker confirmed.
Ellison was “deeply involved” in the Nation of Islam throughout the nineties, CNN reported: “In 1998, Ellison launched a bid for Minnesota state representative, a race he lost after failing to gain the endorsement of the Democratic Party in the state, known as the DFL. Both the Star-Tribune and Insight News identified Ellison, who at time was still going by Keith Ellison-Muhammed, as deeply involved in the Nation of Islam at the time.”
Ellison will only admit to attending Farrakhan’s Million Man March in 1995, and contends that all other allegations are part of a campaign “to smear and distract from the key issues.”
Maxine Waters has met with Farrakhan at least twice since taking office, according to The Daily Caller.
Waters, along with Reps Barbara Lee, Al Green and William Jefferson, can been seen exchanging hugs and handshakes with Farrakhan in a YouTube video posted in 2009, according to the Wall Street Journal .
A photo taken in 2005 with CBC members, including then-Sen. Barack Obama, recently surfaced, showing the members smiling alongside the hateful bigot. The photographer kept the photo hidden for 13 years at the request of the Congressional Black Caucus in order to protect Obama’s political career.

Rep. Rokita joined Fox News’ Fox and Friends Wednesday morning to talk about his resolution. He called his bipartisan resolution a “test” to see whether his Democratic colleagues would join Republicans in condemning the racist and anti-Semitic NOI leader.
