They’re ba-ack!

Just when you thought it was safe to go online, Celebrity Nation went out and recorded another smug PSA for their preferred political party.

Spoiler alert: It’s the Democrats.

The newest video finds Eva Longoria, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, America Ferrera, and other actresses, along with “reg’lar people,” supporting Professor Christine Blasey Ford.

She’s the woman accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sexually attacking her 35-plus years ago with very little proof and very few details or other information that would be vital to solidifying her charges.

The matter is serious on a number of fronts. Sexual assault is a grave matter, one the #MeToo movement has drawn significant attention toward. The stakes are sky high. The balance of the Supreme Court is in play.

It’s the nature of the PSA in question that’s darkly comic all the same.

Why?

It plays out like a parody of previous Celebrity PSAs. Here’s how:

  • Several of the stars appear sans makeup from odd, unglamorous camera angles.
  • It’s nakedly partisan while appearing to be geared simply toward truth-telling. There’s no similar video connected to Democrat Keith Ellison’s accusers.
  • The purpose is unclear since there’s no reason a few famous stars know more, or less, about the issue at hand than anyone else.
  • And, of course, there’s the droll repetition of key phrases throughout the video.

The latter, more than anything else, makes the video a parody of sorts of past clips. Except they didn’t have the self-awareness to even connect those oh, so obvious dots.

“You and your testimony are credible,” they say in near unison. Yet we don’t even know if she will testify, or what that testimony will be.

Would they be recording the same video if a Democrat were accused of this? If not … why not? It’s a crucial question.

A few conservatives fired back at these Hollywood PSAs, tongue dug deep into cheek, back in 2017 after the bruising presidential election.

The most infamous celebrity PSA? Several “Avengers” stars assembled to stop the Trump Train before it reached the Oval Office. Huge stars. Lots of replays. Yet it failed.

That didn’t stop Team Hollywood. They cobbled together some stars for a last-ditch effort to prevent Donald Trump from entering the White House. It failed.

Will the Kavanaugh video fail, too? We won’t know until the vote is held… or postponed indefinitely.

It’s safe to say we haven’t seen the last celebrity PSA.
