Obama Planned to Attend Pro-Abortion Fundraiser, But Changed His Mind

Last night, a fundraiser was held by Planned Parenthood.  President Obama planned on attending, which elicitied this response from Live Action’s Lila Rose at the time.

In the wake of the gruesome and horrific revelations emanating from the trial of abortion Doctor Kermit Gosnell, we urge President Obama to cancel his fundraising speech for big abortion giant Planned Parenthood on Thursday night.

“Planned Parenthood is the nation’s number-one abortion provider, having received in 2011 (the latest year with available data) a record $542 million in tax dollars under the policies of the Obama administration. Over the past few weeks, we have heard the brutal details of the slaughter of innocent human beings that goes on within the walls of many abortion clinics, including Gosnell’s ‘House of Horrors’ in Philadelphia and the ‘meat-market’ ‘assembly-line’ Planned Parenthood of Delaware.

These accounts by former clinic staff have shell shocked the nation and it is incumbent upon the President to reconsider his support for the abortion industry and Planned Parenthood, which last year profited from abortion $87 million dollars committing over 300,000 abortions.”

With conservatives fighting a mainstream media blackout to put Gosnell in the spotlight, it was probably best that the president skipped the fundraiser last night, but he still plans to address the pro-abortion organization today.  On this development, Rose issued this statement.

President Obama swapping a Planned Parenthood fundraising gala Thursday night for an address on Friday shows that while he is certainly willing to avoid a photo of him at an abortion party while the nation mourns, he still refuses to distance himself from the nation’s number one abortion provider and an industry that preys on women and defenseless children as exposed through the Gosnell trial and other atrocities.”

One question that should be in everyone’s mind concerns the president’s feelings towards post-birth abortion.  After all, Planned Parenthood endorses infanticide, and it’s time Obama convey his opinions on the matter.  Asked his opinion of the Gosnell trial, Obama said abortions should be “safe, legal, and rare,” which is odd since his party excised that line out of their party platform in 2012 – and supported partial birth abortions as a state senator in Illinois. Nancy Keenan, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, is on the Democrats’ platform committee.
