The One Question the Left Is Afraid to Ask About Letitia James

After four years of the Biden administration and the Democratic Party weaponizing the government to try to throw President Donald Trump in prison—while endlessly preaching that “no one is above the law”—it’s suddenly a different story now that the tables have turned. The moment Democrats realize that their own ranks aren’t immune from that same standard, they start crying foul. Whether it’s Adam Schiff, James Comey, or Letitia James, the message from the left and its media allies is crystal clear: “No one is above the law” only applies to Republicans. When it’s one of their own, scrutiny is somehow off-limits.

Seriously, we spent four years being lectured about how righteous the Democrats' lawfare against Trump was because it was proof that even those in power can be held accountable. It didn’t matter that Democrat prosecutors and the Biden administration were twisting the law to go after Trump because “democracy was on the line” or something like that.

However, through all of the Democrats bellyaching when a member of their party gets exposed as a criminal, there’s one question that the mainstream media never seems to ask because they don’t want it answered.

CNN’s resident conservative political commentator, Scott Jennings, cut straight to the point during a recent episode of NewsNight, when anchor Abby Phillip tried to frame the discussion about the indictment of Letitia James as an example of Donald Trump supposedly targeting his “political enemies.”

“Well, why aren’t we just asking the basic question: is she guilty?” he shot back. “I mean, there’s evidence. There’s charges. The evidence actually looks like there might be something here. I mean, is that not important to anyone?”

He added, “The New York attorney general committing mortgage fraud, making false statements, isn't that a big deal to anyone—whether she opposes Trump or not?”

This, of course, is something Democrats don’t want to consider. Why? Because there’s actually a lot of evidence that suggests she’s guilty, and that undermines the narrative they’re currently pushing about Trump.

As I recently reported, filmmaker Joel Gilbert uncovered a decades-long pattern of mortgage fraud by James—dating back to the early 1980s and continuing as recently as 2021. His investigation found that James allegedly falsified loan applications, misrepresented property details, and used family members to secure mortgages she wasn’t qualified for. In one case, she reportedly claimed her father was her husband to obtain a better loan rate; in another, she allegedly lied about the number of units in her Brooklyn building to get favorable terms and avoid higher taxes and closing costs.

Gilbert’s findings also detail multiple Virginia properties tied to James, where she allegedly engaged in similar deceit—lying about her primary residence status, buying foreclosed homes under false pretenses, and even renting out a property in violation of loan terms, an offense that could carry decades in prison. Taken together, the evidence paints a damning portrait of a top law enforcement official who spent years gaming the system for personal gain while pursuing politically motivated prosecutions against others.

Phillip tried to deflect, conceding only, “Listen, hey, it’s a fair point,” before scrambling back to safer political territory. But the damage was already done.

The real issue isn’t the left’s tired claim that Trump is “going after his enemies.” The question is whether those so-called enemies actually broke the law—and whether they’ll finally be held accountable for it. From Adam Schiff to James Comey to Letitia James, there’s credible evidence of wrongdoing in every direction, the kind of evidence Democrats never had against Trump. That’s the uncomfortable truth the media keeps dodging—and the one Trump’s critics fear most.

The Schumer Shutdown is still ongoing, and Democrats have no one to blame but themselves. Chuck Schumer led his party to shut down the government for healthcare for illegals—and then gloated, “every day gets better for us.” It’s cynical, it’s cruel, and it shows exactly who he’s fighting for.
