The left is in full meltdown over James Comey’s indictment, and their outrage is dripping with hypocrisy. Democrats and their media allies are screeching that this is authoritarianism, the “weaponization of justice,” and the next step toward dictatorship. Spare us. These are the same people who spent years salivating over every subpoena, indictment, and raid directed at Donald Trump, proudly crowing, “No one is above the law.” Funny how that phrase suddenly loses its luster when their own side is the one facing consequences for alleged crimes and abuses of power.
Seriously, for four years, Democrats waged the most persistent and aggressive campaign in modern political memory to destroy Trump, both legally and politically. The Biden administration and state-level Democrats twisted tools of government power into blunt weapons with the sole purpose of trying to prevent Trump from returning to the Oval Office. People like New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg literally campaigned on getting Trump.
The left treated Trump as guilty by default in endless investigations, impeachments, and hearings. They celebrated every partisan indictment against him as righteous. They treated every legal defeat as proof of justice prevailing. “No one is above the law” became their constant refrain, repeated endlessly as cover for what was plainly a partisan crusade. But now that members of the Democratic Party are facing scrutiny for actual crimes, it’s clearly what the left really meant was “no one is above the law… except for Trump’s enemies.”
We were just supposed to ignore the fine print.
Democrats have made their rules crystal clear: if you’re an enemy of Trump, you’re untouchable. James Comey can lie under oath and obstruct justice without consequence. Adam Schiff and Letitia James should be able to commit mortgage fraud without fear of investigation. The standard is simple—when Democrats commit crimes, it magically “doesn’t count” and should be ignored, otherwise it’s Authoritarianism! The left has no sense of irony. Their supposed defense of democracy now amounts to nothing more than protecting their own from the kind of scrutiny they enthusiastically weaponized against Trump.

Trump’s supporters elected him with the understanding that accountability mattered—especially accountability for those who abused their power in ways that threatened the foundation of our republic. You can’t allow an FBI director who overreached his authority, a congressman accused of serious fraud, or an attorney general accused of politically motivated lawfare to walk away scot-free if preventing future abuses is the goal. Accountability requires consequences. It’s not authoritarianism; it’s the very definition of justice.
This isn’t complicated. If holding Democrats accountable for breaking the law is suddenly “authoritarianism,” then what on earth were the last four years? Democrats can’t have it both ways. They can’t paint their partisan crusade against Trump as noble and righteous, then cry that prosecuting Comey or investigating Schiff, James, or Bolton is some kind of assault on democracy. Justice isn’t supposed to be one-sided. It was the left that marched around chanting “no one is above the law.” Well, that slogan applies to them too—and they don’t like it.
What’s happening now isn’t Trump tearing down democracy. It’s Trump making good on his promise to the American people: real accountability for those who weaponized their offices, abused their power, and trampled the public trust. That’s not authoritarianism. That’s justice—long overdue, and finally at the doorstep of those who thought they’d never face it.
