Whenever the left starts losing its hold on the electorate, they don’t try to win hearts and minds; they try to rig the system. Democrats have spent years pushing for open borders, mass amnesty, and voting rights for non-citizens. The goal is obvious: import millions of future Democrat voters and tilt the political playing field permanently in their favor.
Well, it’s not just American leftists who attempt such power grabs.
Over in the UK, the leftist Labour Party is letting 16-year-olds vote for the first time. “The change, which was promised in Labour’s manifesto last summer, will bring the voting age down to 16, in line with Scottish and Welsh elections,” reports the Telegraph. “The Government has also proposed automated voter registration, going further than their original plans, in an effort to increase participation in elections.”
Sound familiar?
“For too long, public trust in our democracy has been damaged and faith in our institutions has been allowed to decline,” said Angela Rayner, the Deputy Prime Minister. “We are taking action to break down barriers to participation that will ensure more people have the opportunity to engage in UK democracy, supporting our plan for change, and delivering on our manifesto commitment to give 16-year-olds the right to vote.”
According to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was elected in 2024, 16- and 17-year-olds should get a say in who runs the country because they’re old enough to pay taxes.
This is classic political manipulation — something Americans know all too well, thanks to Democrats pushing similar schemes under the banner of “fairness” and “participation.”
Let’s be clear: this is about rigging the system.
Labour’s desperation is obvious. With poll numbers sinking and Reform on the rise, Starmer’s party is dusting off the old leftist strategy: If you can’t win the voters, change who the voters are. Lowering the voting age is a transparent attempt to flood the rolls with young, left-leaning voters just in time for the next election. And they know exactly what they’re doing; polls consistently show that 16- and 17-year-olds skew heavily in Labour’s favor.

Outside Labour HQ, no one’s fooled. Nigel Farage called it like it is: “It’s an attempt to rig the political system, but we intend to give them a nasty surprise.”
The excuses are laughable. We’re told that because some 16-year-olds pay taxes, they deserve a vote. By that logic, part-time teenage workers should be drafting legislation.
We’ve seen the same play in the United States. For years, Democrats have pushed to lower the voting age, dressing it up as “expanding democracy.” But peel back the rhetoric, and it’s just another power grab. From state capitals to Capitol Hill, they’ve worked to let 16-year-olds vote precisely because they lean left. It’s not about inclusion; it’s about insurance.
While the left accuses others of undermining democracy, it’s clear who stands to gain from these electoral rewrites. Labour’s scheme is a mirror image of the Democrats’ efforts; both are willing to alter the rules of the game to cling to power.
The takeaway is simple: When politicians start changing the rules mid-match, it’s rarely for your benefit. And with their grip slipping, today’s left, here and abroad, has shown there’s no manipulation too brazen if it keeps them in charge.
