Independence Day Means So Much More This Year

Every Independence Day, Americans are called to reflect on the blessings of liberty and the enduring strength of our nation. This year, more than ever, we have a lot to be grateful for. The alternative path our country nearly took should serve as a stark reminder of just how much is at stake—and how much we’ve managed to preserve.

Just a year ago, the Democratic Party was in utter disarray. Joe Biden had just bombed his debate with President Trump, and he was facing calls to drop out. Eventually, he did, and the party rallied behind Kamala Harris as their savior. The media did everything it could to prop her up—including countless polls that claimed that Kamala, the most unpopular vice president in the history of polling, was suddenly oozing with favorability and was crushing Trump in head-to-head matchups.

Did those polls make sense? No. But the narrative was set, and she went on raise over a billion dollars. Heck, even the famed Ann Selzer destroyed her reputation by putting out a poll showing Kamala with a three-point lead in Iowa. Anyone who was tracking polls could see it was a bogus poll, but it nevertheless contributed to the facade that Kamala was on the verge of victory for those desperate souls on the political left who so desperately wanted to believe it.

And then she lost. And she didn’t just lose; she lost every single swing state.

But, imagine, if you will, what could have been if the polls had been right and if her campaign had been less stupid with how they spent money and somehow pulled it off.

A Kamala presidency would have been a disaster on every front. The border crisis, already catastrophic under Biden, would have become a full-blown humanitarian dam breach. The claim that new legislation was needed to secure the border was always a lie. As I said before, Trump proved that all it took was “a new president” willing to enforce the laws already on the books.

But, it’s so much more than immigration policy. Trump got to work immediately to right the wrongs of the Biden years, standing up to the transgender cult to protect women’s sports. This never would have happened if Kamala had won. Thanks to Trump, we have a chance to nip this insanity in the bud before it gets worse.

On top of that, Israel now has an ally in the White House, and Iran’s nuclear ambitions are up in smoke. Many also predict one or two Supreme Court vacancies before Trump’s second term is up.

This Independence Day, we should be especially thankful that America dodged the bullet that would have been the Kamala Harris presidency. Instead of being subjected to more lectures about the supposed sins of our Founders, we’re witnessing a return to common sense and national pride, and a renewed commitment to the principles that made this country great.

We have a lot to be grateful for this Independence Day. Remember that when you celebrate today.
