We Could Have a New Reason to Be Concerned About Voting by Mail

I've said plenty of times that as much as I hate early voting, we are ceding a huge advantage to the Democrats if we don't play by the same rules that they do. My general philosophy is that if we don't embrace early voting the way the Democrats have, we won't ever get to be a in a position to abolish it. Call me old-fashioned, but I am a big believer in Election Day, not Election Month.

However, if you're going to vote early, you may want to think twice about mailing your vote.

In the key swing state of Georgia, members of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) union received a letter, seemingly from Georgia NALC President Don Griggs, delivering an unsettling message.

“If Donald Trump wins the upcoming election, it could prove an existential threat to our union and our contract," the letter says. "Your vote matters: consider how the consequences could affect you, your job, and our union when deciding how to vote.”

The letter reads like typical leftist rhetoric, recycling the same tired narrative about Project 2025 — a fabricated threat that the Harris-Walz campaign frequently pushes that has nothing to do with Trump or his campaign.

“Donald Trump and his allies have put together an extensive plan for the next year, if he takes office and appoints anti-union allies throughout the executive branch,” the letter reads. “Our union cannot afford to risk the proposals in Project 2025 becoming a reality.”

For what it’s worth, Griggs claims that he was unaware of the letter, and he told The Federalist that it came from the national union.

“They told me they were going to send me some information as we got closer to the election, and I had no idea they were sending out a letter with my name,” Griggs said. “I never would have sent anything out like that.”

The national union is a whole other issue that doesn't bode well for the security of your ballots in the mail. It endorsed Harris-Walz earlier this month after the Harris-Trump debate.

"The debate on Tuesday night reinforced what we know: Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have the pro-labor record we support and the pro-worker vision we need in the White House in 2025 and beyond," NALC president Brian L. Renfroe said in a statement. "Both have a strong history of fighting on behalf of unions and union members."

This is the union that represents the people who will handle mail-in ballots. If you want to vote early, look into in-person early voting because if the postal carriers union is sending out incendiary rhetoric about Trump, who knows what its members will do with your ballot if they know or suspect your ballot is a vote for Trump? We've seen the Democrats' violent rhetoric inspire two assassination attempts on Donald Trump — it's hardly outside the realm of possibility that partisan postal workers could mess with your vote.
