Good Tuesday morning.
Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:
- 9 p.m.: The president addresses the nation
Trump to address the nation tonight
President Trump will address the nation tonight at 9 p.m. to talk about border security. All the major networks will carry the speech. Oh, and Politico wants you to now that “According to The Washington Post Fact Checker, Trump has made 1,130 false or misleading claims about immigration since taking office.”
Right, does the WaPo have any credibility left? No.
According to the WH, Trump’s remarks will last no more than eight minutes. “Mr. Trump is expected to address the partial shutdown, the border crisis and the deadline for federal workers’ paychecks.”
CNN warns its readers that Trump has no credibility on immigration. Takes one to know one, I guess. Are you sensing a pattern here with the media? Trump isn’t credible, that’s the message. But Trump isn’t the one who tricked people into the thinking there was a problem with our immigration system. The people were already there. Trump only reinforced what they already knew.
Trump has spent years exploiting immigration — one of the nation’s most divisive fault lines — during an insurgent campaign and a presidency sustained by the fervor of his committed political base.
But now, the downside of that strategy is becoming evident. In his attempt to convince the nation that a genuine crisis is unfolding at the southern border, the President’s arguments face extreme skepticism from those not already in his camp.
I look forward to it and hope I can stay up that late. As a bonus, Trump’s remarks are never as entertaining as the media’s response. It’s gonna be lit, yo, so I hope I can stay up to watch the media freak out afterward. What are you expecting from the president? Tell me in the comments.

The Democrats demand time too!
Chuck, Nancy, and the gang also want time to address the nation.
“Now that the television networks have decided to air the president’s address, which if his past statements are any indication, will be full of malice and misinformation, Democrats must immediately be given equal airtime,” Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said in a joint statement on Monday night.
CNN said it will carry the Democrats’ response live.
The Democrats in the House have offered a package to open the government without the $5.7B the president wants to protect the border. They believe that since they won the House, the American people want them to stop the president’s agenda. But 63M people voted for Trump and his agenda. What about those people?
