THE FORGOTTEN SOLDIER from Full Story Films on Vimeo.
Staff Sergeant Joshua Berry served his nation proudly during two tours of duty with the US Army. He survived a difficult deployment to Afghanistan in 2009 only to return home to find the enemy inside the wire. On November 5, 2009, SSG Berry was wounded while taking cover during Nidal Hasan’s brutal rampage at Fort Hood. He never received the Purple Heart.
Josh’s dad, Howard, says his son was never the same after that grim November day. Suffering from severe PTSD, Josh ultimately took his own life in February 2013 –making him one of nearly 8,000 veterans to commit suicide in 2013 alone.
Today, Howard Berry fights to get his son the Purple Heart he rightly deserves, and creates awareness for soldier suicide with his Flags For Forgotten Soldiers campaign. You can support Howard’s mission here: www.gofundme.com/flags-for-for gotten-soldiers.
