Bryant Gumbel, who is now hosting a show on HBO called Real Sports, dished out some serious smack talk against the NRA in an interview with fabulist rag Rolling Stone.
Gumbel told the magazine the NRA are “pigs” who “don’t care about human life” when he was asked about a segment he featured on the “Eat What You Kill” movement.
“There are a few things I hate more than the NRA,” Gumbel said. “I mean truly. I think they’re pigs. I think they don’t care about human life. I think they are a curse upon the American landscape. So we got that on the record.”
The former Today show host promised that his anti-gun vitriol has no effect on his reporting.
“That said, I’m willing to separate that this story had nothing to do with that. It’s not a gun story,” he said of the “Eat What You Kill” segment. “So I would like to think that I would have done it, but I don’t know. Obviously, that was my first experience around killing and guns and hunting.”
Well, Bryant, it is a gun story. People use guns to hunt. Among other thing, the NRA protects the rights of hunters to pass their family heirloom firearms down to their offspring without whacked-out, ridiculous paperwork and administrative legal barriers.
The NRA has not commented on Gumbel’s remarks.
