In a bizarre episode of cognitive dissonance, actress Gabrielle Union “faded” fellow actress Stacey Dash when asked about recent comments which Dash made on Fox News. Commenting on the controversy which has developed surrounding all white nominees for best performance at this year’s Academy Awards, Dash had said:

We need to decide whether we’re going to have segregation or integration. And if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like [Black Entertainment Television] and the BET Awards, and the [NAACP] Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black.

Union has since emerged as Dash’s rival on the topic. Talking to the Associated Press, Union pretended to not know who Dash was when asked about the comments. After referencing Dash as “some crazy lady,” Union said:

It’s like… why there’s a need for the Country Music Awards and the [American Latino Media Arts] Awards. If you don’t see yourself reflected in mainstream awards, you tend to create your own.

Fair enough. But how does that address Dash’s point about segregation? Union went on:

Until there’s no longer a need for that, I celebrate the ALMAs, the same way that I celebrate the Country Music Awards, and the same way I celebrate the BET Awards and the Image Awards… The more that we focus on inclusion and true representation of this country, I think that crazy lady will have less to say.

Wait? The more we focus on inclusion? After listing off a bunch of segregated awards that you celebrate? Which is it, lady? Dash’s point stands validated.
