Intel Drops Ultrawideband Development

Following the shutdown of Ultra Wide Band chip developer WiQuest,  Intel has pulled the plug on its in house UWB efforts. UWB has been touted as the next big thing in personal area networking but performance has not lived up to the hype. Intel has been working on the technology, in varying ways, for nearly 5 years and while UWB technology may still have a life somewhere in the future, for the moment efforts have been shelved as the entire industry reevaluates.
