Bush Signs Anti-piracy Law, Creates Role of IP Czar

Pres. Bush signed in to law the Pro-IP Act, stiffening federal penalties on IP piracy.  The bill, backed by the music and movie industry is seen by some as going too far and DOJ has expressed concerns that it may undermine the agency’s authority.  As part of the legislation, the new law would create an IP Czar who would report directly to the President. We suspect all legal types with Czar aspirations and credentials will be lining up for the uber-lawyer job.
