Royal Air #988 Crashed On Approach To Chicago; 2 Deaths Reported

Dan Riehl notes:

All I can find semi-officially for now, doesn’t look to be a passenger plane.

FlightAware has received unconfirmed word that Royal Air Flight #988 crashed in a river on approach to Chicago at approximately 1:24pm CST.

The flight was operated with a Learjet 35 (twin-jet) from Pontiac, Michigan to Chicago. It departed the Eastern Michigan airport at 1:47pm EST (2:47pm CST at the destination airport).

Breaking News on Twitter adds, “Officials believe 2 fatalities in Learjet crash in suburban Chicago – NBC.”

Meanwhile, in other news from the world of aviation and travel from Breaking News:

Bomb squad at Minneapolis airport after dog reacts to suspicious luggage; evacuations under way – NBC

And in infinitely more idiotic travel news, “Milblogger Michael Yon handcuffed, Joan Rivers blocked” by assorted moronic airport agents, as Michelle Malkin writes.

Update (1:14 PM PST): Michael Yon is discussing his incident at Sea-Tac Airport on Breitbart.TV’s live B-Cast show now; presumably a repeat will be online later today.

Update: “MSP Airport Partially Evacuated”, Minneapolis’s WCCO TV reports.
