A California high school teacher and city council member in Pico Rivera, California, is under investigation by the school board after a student clandestinely recorded his shocking and profane anti-military rant.
Gregory Salcido can be heard in three videos insulting members of the military, calling them “dumbsh*ts” and berating a student for wearing a sweatshirt with a Marines logo.

“We’ve got a bunch of dumbsh*ts over there,” Salcido can be heard telling the class in the in the audiotape. “Think about the people you know who are over there [in the military]. They’re your freaking stupid Uncle Louie or whatever,” he added.
“They’re dumbsh*ts. They’re not high-level bankers, they’re not academic people, they’re not intellectual people,” he said. “They’re the freaking lowest of the low.”
You really have to hear it for yourself to believe just how obnoxious and wrong-headed this guy is.
The student who recorded Salcido’s rant said it was his Marine Corps shirt that set the teacher off.
“And I told him it was a family tradition,” the student, who requested anonymity, told a local ABC affiliate. “My dad’s done it, my two uncles have done it. And I just wanted to continue that tradition because it’s also something I wanted to do as a kid. And he said, ‘So if it was a family tradition to beat women, would you continue it too?’”
“You better not freaking go,” Mr. Salcido told the student in the recording. “Don’t wear that in here.”
The same student also apparently recorded Salcido arguing in class that possessing kiddie porn should not be a crime.
The Pentagon responded on Monday to Salcido’s disparaging remarks:
Amber Smith, the Pentagon’s director of outreach, said she found the comments “uninformed” when she was asked directly about Gregory Salcido, who is also a city councilman in Pico Rivera, Calif. A recording of Salcido apparently made by one of his students and posted to social media reveals him railing against the perceived incompetence of the military and comparing recruiters who visit high schools to pimps.
Smith was briefing reporters on a new Pentagon initiative to educate the American public about the U.S. military called “This is Your Military.” She said the goal is to introduce the public to the less than 1 percent of Americans who serve in the military, and to correct common misconceptions.
Many people, including members of the military and their families, took to Twitter to help Salcido learn more about the people he so vociferously spoke out against.
I’d like you to know that my late husband was a Yale graduate English major, he served in Special Forces, volunteered for Vietnam. Served proudly. Was reviled & spit upon by people like you. He was an award winning journalist until his death in 1984. Not “the lowest of low”.

I am a veteran, teach college, and have a Ph.D. You embarrass me. I won't hate on you. I pray though you find a new line of work because you are what is wrong with our youth today.

I saw that Mr. Salcido has a Bachelors Degree; I’m a Military vet with 2 Masters Degrees (from real schools I might add).
I guess that makes him the dumb one.

According to the Washington Times, Salcido actually served as the city’s mayor in 2002, 2010 and 2015. He has yet to apologize for his ignorant and hateful remarks.
