I may be a large, bearded man who listens to way more Lynyrd Skynyrd than his wife appreciates, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not a big softie at heart. By way of proof, I want to introduce you to a story that warmed my heart. Separated by adoption, two Golden Retriever siblings were reunited while out for a walk with their respective owners.
According to KIRO7, the two dogs, “Maui and her sister Juniper were adopted from Russia. They were flown to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport last May as puppies.”
On February 10 of this year, Maui and Juniper were with their owners at Seattle’s Pike Place Market. While walking through market, the dogs recognized each other and ran toward each other. As the dogs frolicked and rolled around, the owners, who didn’t know each other, began to talk and soon realized that the two dogs had been on the same plane from Russia.
Providing more details of the reunion, Patch writes,
Facebook user Pam Corwin, who was at the market that day, shared video of the heart-melting reunion on social media. The dogs went “totally crazy,” Corwin said.
“I went over to watch because it was so adorable, and as I stood there soaking up the love, the couples figured out that the dogs are siblings and came over on the same plane to be adopted from Russia a year ago! The dogs recognized each other,” she wrote.
The dogs even shared identifying tattoos, Corwin said.
“This joyful reunion went on for over a half an hour, in fact they were still at it when I left the market,” Corwin wrote.
One of the owners, Kaitlyn Hawkins, told KIRO7, “We noticed a puppy who looked very similar in age and appearance to [our dog] Maui, and once they saw each other they got really excited and started playing together. After chatting with the other owners we realized that the dogs are siblings.”
The owners have exchanged phone numbers and are already planning playdates for Maui and Juniper.
