Any rational parent would be able to tell you that always giving people exactly what they want, and giving them endless rewards they didn’t earn, is a recipe for disaster. The more people get, the less they appreciate, especially youth. The perfect illustration of this is the riots in France.
France has FREE health care, paid parental leave, paid family leave, FREE child care, FREE preschool, 5 weeks paid vacation, a 35 hour work week, generous unemployment and housing benefits, and heavily subsidized higher education. The reason the hordes of Muslims do not appreciate the many benefits they get at natives’ expense is that the Islamic religion specifically encourages ingratitude and exploitation. Muslim migrants who moved to Europe, particularly the young men, often believe that while it is much better materially to live in those countries, they still have a moral duty to conquer those nations for Allah and establish sharia. They will steal whatever they can get along the way because they believe in the ancient Islamic tax on infidels (jizyah). What they do not believe in is respecting and thanking the infidels who welcomed them in and gave them housing, food, and cash to spend.

As for the commies like the Antifa wacko who reportedly burned down the historic town hall in Limoges, it is also a feature of their ideology that no matter what they receive, it is never enough. Marxist ideology is specifically a belief system for the bitter, the entitled, the greedy, and the ungrateful. It promises a utopia if only you destroy everything that came before you and dispossess all those who earned their livings.
Of course, the fact is, these are not really cost-of-living protests. The Muslims running around with submachine guns and Palestinian flags, and the Antifa activists with masks who are torching entire buildings and destroying entire shopping malls, are not out for lower prices, but for the destruction of Western civilization. That is why so many foreign groups like the genocidal Chinese Communist Party and pro-Hamas entities are orchestrating the riots. We are seeing literal and existential civil war in France.

But to return to my point about freebies — that is, benefits paid by the French taxpayer — Europa.jobs states that the “social benefits system in France remains one of the most extensive in Europe… France regularly adjusts the level of financial support to match inflation, which is why social benefits in France in 2025 have once again been increased to maintain the real purchasing power of households.” Of course, if the government were not always meddling, inflation would not be so high.
The numbers below are for 2025, so the likelihood is that they could have increased even since then. Keep in mind that this is not the full list of benefits; it is just a snapshot. And it doesn’t include the more than a month of paid leave for people who actually have a job.
