This is an opinion piece reflecting the author’s views.
After years of court cases and evidence exposing parts of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein‘s child trafficking network for powerful clients, Donald Trump electrified his supporters by promising to release the information when in office. Now he is viciously insulting those same supporters, and claiming all the evidence about the network was a hoax.
Trump’s approval rating dropped this past week and many of his most loyal supporters reacted with confusion, betrayal, and fury at his and the DOJ’s insistence that Epstein killed himself, that there were never any files, and that whatever exists does not need to be released because even though there’s nothing incriminating to powerful elites, they still shouldn’t have to release anything. Meanwhile, the Justice Department simultaneously said the Epstein scandal was all a big hoax and also that his partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, sentenced to 20 years for conspiring with him to traffic minors, has to serve out her full sentence anyway.
The whole situation is preposterous, makes the DOJ look incompetent and non-transparent, and reminds me of a quote from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn:
We know that they are lying,
They know that they are lying
They even know that we know they are lying.
We also know that they know we know they are lying. too.
They, of course, know that we certainly know they know we know they are lying, too, as well.
But they are still lying.
None of the Republicans in the base calling for the Epstein files to be released are doing so because of what the Democrat media said. We care much less what they say than Trump himself does. We have been calling for transparency about Epstein for years, which is why Trump was able to gin up so much enthusiasm by saying he would release any and all information on Epstein. If the files Epstein reportedly kept to blackmail clients (e.g., Bill Clinton was accused in one court case) are destroyed, then tell us that. Don’t tell us this was a Democrat hoax. We know better.

The point is that we cannot have a new Golden Age if all the criminals in government and big businesses, whether they are sexual criminals, immigration law felons, or otherwise, are not held accountable. If there is no justice for powerful elites who abuse children, what is the point of claiming we are a republic? We are simply an oligarchy. That is why this Epstein crisis is not going away, why MAGA is furious. Anyone, including Trump, who thinks the base is going to forget about this major campaign promise is fooling himself. We elected him to clean out the Deep State.

I have had more success in 6 months than perhaps any President in our Country’s history, and all these people want to talk about, with strong prodding by the Fake News and the success starved Dems, is the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax. Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!
