Ivy League Professors Have an Anti-Semitism Problem

If there’s one thing we’ve learned since the heinous Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, it’s that American Ivy League educators have a serious problem with anti-Semitism — and with actively promoting terrorist propaganda.

From Harvard to Yale to Columbia, Ivy League universities’ students and faculty have been responsible for a surge of vitriol against Jews and support for “Palestinian” terrorists since the Oct. 7 atrocities. Woke leftism (especially diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI) encourages this anti-Semitism, which is perhaps why so many professors and university administrators have been exposed for dangerous antipathy against Israelis in particular and Jews in general. How did we allow this plague to infect our campuses here in America? And why are these universities still receiving taxpayer dollars from the government?

We all have heard about Harvard President Claudine Gay, who had to resign amidst a controversy about both her plagiarism and her refusal to condemn calls for genocide against Jews. More recently, I highlighted Harvard “Presidential Task Force on Combating Antisemitism” co-chair Derek Penslar, the university’s William Lee Frost professor of Jewish History in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Penslar signed a letter in August falsely accusing Israel of apartheid and occupation of Palestinian lands, and declared that he thought the problem of anti-Semitism at Harvard was exaggerated. The letter that Penslar signed explicitly used Gazan jihadi rhetoric to smear Israel! It’s no wonder Jewish students have sued Harvard for its dangerous anti-Semitic environment.

Yale University also just hired a problematic new professor, under investigation and on leave from the State Department, for mishandling classified documents, per Yale Daily News:

Jackson School of Global Affairs fellow Robert Malley ’84, who is currently on leave from his position as the United States’ special envoy to Iran while under investigation for allegedly mishandling classified documents, will teach a course called “Contending with Israel-Palestine” this semester …

[The course] begins with a discussion on “Competing Narratives” — which features primary source excerpts from figures such as Golda Meir and Yasser Arafat — and moves through other topics … Malley wrote that he sought to include readings from a variety of perspectives, while acknowledging that he “invariably left many out.”

Malley wrote for Jewish Currents in 2021 that “My father felt close to [Palestinian leader Yasser] Arafat and, as if making sure I would not forget, Arafat never missed an opportunity to bring his name up when meeting President Clinton during the time I worked for the American president.” Foundation for Defense of Democracies argued that Arafat is the “Father of Modern Terrorism,” while Jewish Virtual Library presented evidence that Arafat “was a terrorist who spent the majority of his life dedicated to fighting Israel.” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) previously referred to Malley as a “pro-Iran radical.”

Meanwhile, back in October, Ohio State University's Students for Justice in Palestine chapter held a “day of resistance” rally justifying Hamas’s brutal terrorism and falsely accusing Israel of apartheid. The chapter’s faculty advisor is Pranav Jani, whose specialty is “Marxist theories of nationalism and colonialism,” per the Washington Free Beacon. Jani promotes anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel and criticized cancellation of an event honoring a member of terrorist organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The Free Beacon added other shocking examples of pro-jihad professors:

At Cornell University, for example, history professor Russel Rickford told a crowd of students during a pro-Hamas rally that the terror group's attack on Israel was "exhilarating" and "energizing." At Albany Law School, assistant professor Nina Farnia praised the "Palestinian resistance" in the wake of the attack, which saw Hamas kidnap and execute women and children. "The Palestinians are a beacon for us all," Farnia said.

These are the anti-Semitic whackos forming the minds of young Americans. As a former university DEI director emphasized last year, DEI fuels a disturbing culture of anti-Semitism on college campuses, which is painfully obvious now at Ivy League institutions. We are seeing the Nazification of America’s education system.
