Troops, Cartels Clash In Reynosa Today

Reynosa is right across the Rio Grande from McAllen, Texas. This afternoon the city’s downtown and northwest side were disturbed by armed clashes between government forces and drug cartel gunmen, according to ValleyCentral.

Authorities are asking Reynosa residents to be careful following reports of a series of shootouts between armed men and soldiers.

Reynosa residents turned to the social media network Twitter to report the first rounds of gunfire in the Colonia Rodriguez around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Many residents reported gunfire as well as soldiers and armed men clashing in the streets in neighborhoods in and around downtown Reynosa.

The northwest side is the side closest to McAllen.
