On Hardball, David Corn was asked about allegations that his recording of Sen. Mitch McConnell’s strategy meeting was illegally obtained.
His answer was far out of character.
“I don’t comment on confidential sources,” Corn told TPM in an email. “Can’t say much now.”
Whether it’s “confidential sources” or the ongoing FBI investigation that has silenced Corn is debatable. Corn could be held criminally liable, depending on how the investigation unfolds. A Kentucky Democratic official today said that two operatives from Progress Kentucky recorded the conversation. The Democrat official said that he came forward “to protect the Democratic Party,” not because he knew of illegal behavior that needed to be reported.
