Chronicling the ongoing intersectional struggle to liberate women — inclusively defined as the legacy kind and the transgender individuals — from the Patriarchy™, one microaggression at a time.

Santa Barbara Karen POV: Your $300-an-hour therapist is an anti-capitalist crusader

I firmly believe that at least a solid 30% of societal ills can be laid at the feet of “progressive” therapists with Valley Girl vocal aesthetics who launder their indoctrination programs as “therapy.”

Like, right?

Check out this hot take on how capitalism and white supremacy derange minorities and the non-gender-conforming or something, captioned “Dr. Will on a (capitalist) lie they tell us about our mental health.”

(As a rule of thumb, never trust a “doctor” who refers to themselves with their professional title followed by just a first name — i.e., “Dr. Jill.”)

I have a therapist take that may be hard for a lot of people to hear. So uh, a lot of mental health problems are not an individual issue. So, I'm Dr. Will Lacey-Bisetty. I’m a clinical neuropsychologist.

What I mean by that is that we're made to think that mental health issues are an individual problem that needs to be solved, and that's through this lens of, like, capitalism, where our job is to produce and overcome and if something’s wrong, it's on us to fix it rather than relying on our community and the connections and things we're able to build.

And so the goal of that is, like, isolation and individualization which keeps us from, you know, connecting and building up and building webs and communities that allow us to push back against the systems that lead to a lot of these mental health difficulties.

A lot of these systems surrounding capitalism, colonialism, white supremacy, um, patriarchy, all those kind of things come together to lead to us feeling bad, disconnected. And then we're told that it's our job to go produce a better experience of better feeling, you know, increased positive affect, right?

To make ourselves more receivable to other people. And so everything you have that is outside of that cis white heteronorm leads to further disconnect from society and further work that needs to be done to be into a system that's built to uphold one group of people. And they don't want us to, like, connect… They don't want us to come together and figure those things out because once we do then we recognize that, you know, the people are the ones that have the power. And, you know, the elites, the people who have all the resources and have all the control, they want to keep us isolated and separated. They even use mental health as a lens to do that and put it on us to fix ourselves rather than recognize that it’s the systems that are broken, not us as people.

Holy communist psychobabble, Batman!

You just know this guy’s training up an army of masked Karens, a never-ending procession of them coming and going in and out of his office, who inevitably only leave his trusted care more confused and victimized than before and probably on a fresh SSRI prescription.
