(R-MA)-gettin’ Day?

January 19, 2010 - 9:57 am - by Zombie

The last time any Republican held a Senate seat in Massachusetts was over 30 years ago. And Harry Truman was president the last time the seat once held by Ted Kennedy was in Republican hands. And yet — today there is a good chance that we’ll see the letters (R-MA) on the senate roster for the first time in a very long time.

Is today (R-MA)-gettin’ day?

According to many pundits and nervous voters, the only thing that could prevent a Brown victory today is vote fraud — and lots of it. The problem with tracking vote fraud, however, is that it’s usually not one big single crime that can be prevented or exposed by diligent monitors; rather, it’s thousands of little crimes, each one of which may be easy enough to identify on its own, but when they happen one-by-one-by-one-by-one at innumerable polling places across the state, they’re nigh on impossible to stop or even document.

This is an open thread for commenters to describe any incidents of election irregularities in Massachusetts which they witnessed personally. Only by accumulating many such anecdotes and later presenting them together as a group can there be any documentation of vote fraud.

Hopefully, there will be no fraud, and this thread will get no comments. But in case it does happen, we need to start gathering evidence now.

I found out there were two people listed at my address. I live alone. That person hasn’t lived there for at least two years. I told the poll watchers and the policeman there that this person did not live at that address. But they did nothing.

There are numerous potentials for fraud with that one. Who knows how many more there are.

Anonymous, unverifiable anecdotes collected across the Internet hardly constitute “evidence”. At best, they constitute motivation for people to stand up to the fraudsters (and to vote in such large numbers that fraud can’t close the gap).

You might do more for the cause of honest voting if you (or someone) could give people tips on how best to document vote fraud legally. I can’t say I know the law here in Michigan, much less out in Massachusetts; but I know from past news reports that there are Dos and Don’ts that must be followed if you want your evidence to stand up to challenges.

Danger, report it to both campaign HQs. It was probably in favor of Coakley but doesn’t hurt to report to both, Brown will use the info if needed. There’s a blog tracking vote irregularities with hotline numbers to call for each candidate, I ‘ll find it and post it.

this site seems to be slanted right, but it has hotline #s for both candidates and you can report incidents there also

I’m not sure that Mass has the infrastructure for massive vote fraud. The Dems have always amassed their vote fraud agencies in purple states where they could do the most good, a la Franken. Mass has not been a purple state in a senate race for more than two generations. When a candidate as bad as Kerry is a shoe-in, why bother with setting up a voter fraud machine?

I’m surprised that I never hear anyone tell the honest side that the best way to beat these guys at their own game is to lie at the exit polls. If everyone who votes for Scott comes out and says they voted for Martha they will have no idea how many ballots to stuff in the box. Same right before the election. Make the margin seem smaller than it is and they will find out too late they don’t have enough absentee ballots on hand.

It’s amazing to me, that our country has come to this. Voting here has become little different than any other third world cess pool.

“Danger, report it to both campaign HQs. ”

AFTER the polls close. DOn’t want to give the ghost-voters any tips on which names are good to use for last-minute box-stuffing.

You need to gather evidence. Get the names of these people, get them to sign a piece of paper stating that they are aware of this problem.

Here’s another tip for all: THE BUDDY SYSTEM. Vote in pairs. Both bring a camera to record any fraud foisted on the other or to record the other’s frustrated attempt to stop a fraud.

VIDEO: Why is this woman handing out blank absentee ballots?
These appear to be blank absentee ballots being handed out in Lawrence, MA. Developing….

Zombie, that’s why I enjoy reading you. Even when I – rarely – disagree with you, you’re sharp as a tack. This incredible pun is just an example of your rapier wit.

If the persistent mechanisms of electoral fraud could be eradicated, this would have been done long ago. Fraud can only be overcome by a sufficient margin on the side of its targeted victim. It takes a lot of public outrage to do this, but it does happen, every once in a while.
