Just couldn’t bring myself to watch the Edward Snowden interview with Brian Williams last night, but I did skim the recap:
“The reality is I never intended to end up in Russia,” he said. “I had a flight booked to Cuba onwards to Latin America and I was stopped because the United States government decided to revoke my passport and trap me in Moscow Airport.
“So when people ask why are you in Russia, I say, ‘Please ask the State Department.”
He messed with the drone-wielding President of a superpower and he’s being all churlish that they took his passport away?
Whatever you think of Snowden’s actions — I think of him as “the accidental patriot” — he’s a lucky, lucky man to be aboveground on any continent.
