I’m the wrong person to be reading these stories. I barely comprehend tattoos, much less being alienated so far from one’s own body that the only way to feel whole is to mutilate it.

That, and there was a recent study — can’t find the link — showing that people who undergo sex reassignment surgery have the same high suicide rate (nearly 20%) as those who want it but don’t get it.

Which… well, that’s essentially what happened here.
