It’s Official: Apple is Doomed
What else to make of this report:
Apple overtook Samsung as the market leader in mobile phones in the United States for the final quarter of 2012, reports Strategy Analytics, though Samsung still led for the year as a whole. The development marks the first time Apple has held the top spot in overall mobile phone shipments.
The technology analysts estimate that a total of 52 million mobile phones were shipped in the U.S. last quarter, with Apple accounting for 17.7 million of them, Samsung for 16.8 million and LG a distant third with 4.7 million. Samsung had held the top spot since 2008 before being dethroned by Apple.
That ought to know another twenty or thirty bucks off the share price.

I can tell you I’m selling every last share of Apple stock I own!
I’m actually considering moving out of one of my other positions, which has just been fiddle-farting around over the years, and snapping up the stock from the panic sellers. I’m still up a nice percentage compared to when I bought in, and the target price is still around $600.
The stock is currently undervalued, so now is a great time to buy. AAPL was _over_valued at $700, so while it was fun while it lasted, a correction was due. Give it a couple months and it’ll be back in the upper $500s.
I’m still likin’ where this leads:

Yeah, Stephen, but you omitted the rest of the piece, did you not?
And of course, the question of why Apple feels it can’t compete but must depend on a litigation strategy is the next question …
When you say the company taking in almost two-thirds of all the profits in the smartphone business “can’t compete,” I get all milk-snorty.
I mean, seriously.
I didn’t say that they couldn’t compete, I said “… why Apple feels it can’t compete … ” without a litigation strategy.
When you’ve had a billion dollars stolen from you — that’s what Samsung was ordered to pay — you’d want it back.
Honestly, this line of argument is too silly to bother with any longer.
I remember when Apple used to go out of business every year. It was an annual media ritual.
