I think Bill is really on to it with a theme he’s been hitting since the election–the biggest problem with the Republican Party right now is that it is led by people who don’t believe in Republican values. For however long this is the case, just so long will the Democrats continue to play them like a fiddle. They cannot be effective advocates for a cause they don’t support or even understand.
Today 12/20/2012 the second half of Boner’s plan B to raise taxes got voted down.
So we seem to be in the “Let’er Burn” mode. Bob Woodward said recently that Obama could blame going over the cliff on the Republicans….for about two months, then as the SHTF the voters would do what the always do when they really get hit in the pocket book, blame the guy in charge whether he is responsible or not.
As for Boner, if he wants to remain speaker he’s got about one day to pull a rabbit out of his hat and throw some meat to the fiscal conservatives in the house. I’d suggest bills on the floor defunding and reduced funding for every agency and NGO living off the federal nipple. An attempt to defund the EPA would give rise to a lot of giggles for instance.
