Will Collier sums up the Disney/LucasFilm buyout perfectly.
UPDATE: More from Scalzi.
I wonder if the sale also includes Indiana Jones. I’d like to see another sequel to make up for that last one.
Yes, I read somewhere that apparently the sale includes all the Lucasfilm movies, as well as ILM and Skywalker Sound.
It includes Indiana Jones, but Paramount has the contract for future IJ movies. So no Disney Indiana in the near future.
I can’t wait for a Disney Star Wars film, they have an incredible amount to talent they can tap into and they won’t have the Lucas ego to contend with.
Just think about it, the creative behind The Avengers teamed with Brad Bird (and his Disney roots) putting an MI4 twist on Star Wars VII. Excuse me, I have to go get in line for tickets.
All is forgiven if Disney remasters the original trilogy but keeps the original cut intact. In fact, it will earn them profound gratitude.
Stand aside, Lucas, the force left you decades ago.
Let younger Jedi reinvigorate the middle-aged underachiever that Star Wars has become.
