Lincoln: The Trailer
September 14th, 2012 - 1:35 pm
I couldn’t be a bigger fan of Steven Spielberg or of Daniel Day Lewis — but this trailer makes the movie look like ass. I picture Christopher Walken playing Spielberg, shouting, “MORE PORTENT!”
What do you think?
AND ANOTHER THING: WTF is up with up with Tommy Lee Jones and that wig? I dare you to look at it without laughing and/or cringing. I double-dog dare you.

Looks like pretentious Amestad-like Oscar bait.
Since Lincoln is the iconic Republican, Spielberg is attempting to sully his name, thereby making people ignore the fact that the owners of slaves before the Civil War were Democrats.
We all know how Hollywood now honors exemplary Americans: They show them warts above all, meaning they imply that they were gay, pedophiles, drug addicts, traitors, and all the the other favorite hobbies of Hollywood regulars.
Sanctimony on wheels.
MORE PORTENT!
And nothing screams American like Daniel Day Lewis.
It’s like Kevin Costner playing Robin Hood. Okay. Not quite that bad.
This is the second trailer I’ve seen for this movie, and they both make Lincoln look pathetically ghey (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
You want an exciting Lincoln? Go watch Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Sure, it’s cheesy, but it intros with a Johnny Cash tune, and their Lincoln actually sounds believable, if not inspiring, while reading the Gettysburg Address.
Spielberg has produced Lincoln, the Beta Apologist.
Who exactly figured it would be a good idea for Abraham Lincoln to have the vocal inflections of Forrest Gump?
Slavery is as Slavery does…
Sheesh.
i don’t suppose that releasing a movie, just before folks are about to go to the polls, about how mis-treated the noble negroes had been in this country could have anything to do with re-electing obama, could it ?
on second thought…that can’t be the motive since lincoln was a republican and so that would only serve to help elect romney, right ?…right ?
