Well, hell, these people have been cut off from the rest of the world their entire lives, and they just plain don’t know any better. Also, I agree that some of them may be putting on a show to save themselves punishment. I don’t think any of us can really imagine just how bad it is for these people on a day to day basis.
There were people who wanted to leave the Branch Davidians, and Jonestown. So I don’t think everyone is completely brainwashed, but when you have nothing to compare it too, you may think it’s the best place.
