CNN/ORC: One in four Democrats wants to dump Obama.

Please note, that’s CNN and ORC, not Fox or Rasmussen.

Of course, Obama won’t get a primary challenger, or at least not a serious one. For starters it takes a lot more than 27% to knock an incumbent out in the primary. Secondly, the offense to black voters — primarying the first black President! — would not be soon forgotten.

What this poll does reveal, however, is a dissatisfaction with the president, even among Democrats.

Either way, sure it would. Racism is now understood as a tactical, not a nuclear weapon. The fallout has been greatly reduced do to its overuse by what Tony Katz calls the “racer” left. Joe Biden’s “clean and articulate” gaffe, Harry Reid’s “No negro accent,” the mud that was thrown at Hillary and Bill — and Hillary’s everyday supporters — who on the professional left remembers any of that?

Unless, of course, the primary challenge came from the Left and was by a black pol.

Who could make a plausible shot?

It really is an amusing Catch-22 they’re in. Consider, what happens if, come late September, Obama is still averaging high 30s – low 50s in the Gallup poll. First primary filing deadline is Oct 1 (Florida, I believe, but don’t hold me to that). At what point does President Obama have to decide that he’ll get slaughtered, and therefore doesn’t want to run? When does he have to decide by? October? November? At what point does he cripple the Democrats more by getting out than by staying in?

If Obama does pull out, who wants to jump in? The Democrats are looking to convincingly lose the Senate, and the Republicans are looking to convincingly keep the House. So, if you’re the new Democrat Party nominee for President, what do you do?

Do you run to the Left? Convince the voters that Democrat == “tax, spend, big government”? Thank you, we’ll take a 60+ seat majority in the Senate, the Presidency, and the House, and do a Walker to Democrats and the labor unions.

Do you run to the middle? Great! Love to see you hang all those vulnerable Democrats, who voted for the Stimulus, ObamaCare, and against every Republican proposal, out to dry, as you campaign against all the controversial things they voted for.

I’ll also look forward to all those left wing voters who stay at home Nov 2012, as you trash Obama for doing what they wanted him to do.

So instead Obama stays in. And tries to run for re-election with an exploding debt, a huge deficit, and unemployment > 9%.

    Catch-22. The Democrats are screwed.

This poll is the one and only time they have ever admitted that the poll was taken from all democrats….usually they try to hide that fact.
