Tax THIS!
The California Assembly has gone and killed a few thousand more jobs in the Golden State (11.7% unemployment) with the new internet tax. Amazon thinks the tax is “unconstitutional and counterproductive” and so has killed its Affiliate program, effective today.
Ken Rockwell is my favorite sources for photography advice, and he’s long made a nice income as an Amazon affiliate — and he lives in San Diego. I hope he can make up the lost income, because I’d hate to see him close up shop. But his one-man shop has been going strong since 1999, so I suspect he’ll weather the storm.
Smaller, younger Affiliates won’t do nearly as well.

Didn’t this same thing happen in IL, another insane Blue State? They were warned, but these idiots do not care. Their power is paramount, and they find it OFFENSIVE that these Internet companies won’t play ball. They would rather drive out the business, than let this exception to their Rulership stand.
This is a perfect example of raising taxes and driving away business. Share it. Print it. Memorize it. Shove it into liberal faces. Here is your damned proof!
To paraphrase the title of the old Sinatra/Martin western, just call this “More for Texas”.
Net effect: no new sales tax revenue and less income tax revenue. Simply brilliant!
Colorado has walked back a similar law, but I don’t think they’ve reinstated our program yet. Costs me about $100 a month, I think.
My friend Jeremy, with advanced muscular dystrophy, decided to break himself free from the government’s teet, and voluntarily cancelled his disability benefits so as to not be part of the problem. Part of his newfound income to be self sufficient was as an Amazon affiliate. He lives in California, and one of the few viable employment tracks for him has been ripped from him. Sad story.
