I’m not one of these people who think Obama should be getting down with the people, or getting emotional. A Slick Willie he isn’t, nor should he try to be.
But he’s being hammered in polls that ask Americans whether he cares about people like them. Where did Mr. Hope and Change go? Even if that was inauthentic, he should bring it back.
It’s a long time now since Obama was a community organizer. Even then, he might have been more comfortable dealing with communities than with individuals. Democrats are best with groups. If I break down on the side of the road, I hope a Republican stops — he’ll fix my flat and offer me a drink. A Democrat will get busy forming a Committee to Protect Women Who Own Vulnerable Cars.
So it’s come to this: One of the Democrats’ most dependable water-carriers is reduced to stealing old gags (from a libertarian!) and encouraging the President to be “inauthentic.”
Stunning. Just. Stunning.
Boy, if that isn’t a perfect synopsis of the Left, I don’t know what is. Is that whole R/D juxtaposition from Barry?
No, she may have stolen his car comparison, but she improved on it. I think her version is closer to reality (Barry says Republicans are too mean to stop, which he’d know is absurd if he’d ever met a Republican).

When you spend your life as a community antagonizer, you lose tone in those empathy muscles, while you build up the “blame pipes” to epic proportions.
More succinctly, your job is to inflict pain, not feel it. First, you wish to turn up the heat on the “victim’s” pain, so that they are ready to lash out, in full adrenal fury.
Then, you want to herd them into a pack, so that you can lead them to inflict pain on the “oppressors”. Either direction, you, as the community antagonizer want to inflict more pain. Over and over and over again.
You are selling pain. You are marketing pain. You are pain enhancing. So, please don’t misread the lips…”I fuel your pain” is NOT “I feel your pain”.
A conservative will fix your flat, a libertarian will offer you his AAA card, a liberal will form a committee to investigate the tire company, a leftist will drop the tire iron on your kneecap and tell you that you’re lucky to have “free” healthcare, someone will be in touch with you for in-patient surgery in 18 months.
You ever take a college class where the professor is tauted by one and all as “a genius!”.
So youre excited to start the class, but week after week of lectures that really suck(because they are pointless) and assignments that sort of go nowhere and there you are right around mid-terms sitting in a big autotorium getting another lecture thats 7/10ths what he did at a party this weekend and 3/10ths reading from powerpoint slides, and you say to yourself ‘this guy is a clueless moron who has never done anything outside of school in his life – I wonder if can I drop this class without taking a hit on my transcript?”
Welcome to what it feels like to be a democrat.
