The Song Remains the Same

Here’s what others are saying:

Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming. It’s clear that the anger controls the child and not the other way around. It’s the job of the parent to teach the child to control the anger and channel it in a positive way. Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage. The voters had a temper tantrum last week….Parenting and governing don’t have to be dirty words: the nation can’t be run by an angry two-year-old.

Actually, that was Peter Jennings in 1994.

Translation: How dare you think you have a say in how the government runs your life? The government is Father; the government is Mother.

Jennings was an excellent example of never judging a book by it’s cover. The guy came off as a very urbane and well educated person who somehow had earned the right to be condescending to his audience. Turns out Mr. Urbane was a college drop out, the kind of person who would have normally been considered a loser. Just shows you how far you can go if your daddy is an executive with the CBC.
