Ground Zero for Anti-Semitism

What’s so moderate about Park51′s Imam Rauf? Plenty, if destroying Israel as a Jewish state is moderate.

Well, obviously it is. Why else would people who hold that position invariably be referred to as “moderates” by the sort of people who decide these things?
Well…when you put it that way…
Moderate is a relative term. And if you desperately need to label someone a moderate, then the definition of moderate needs to be especially flexible.
So does that make Mike Bloomberg an anti-semite or simply a self-hating Jew.
(bonus points for knowing the Simpson’s episode #)
Anyone else besides me see the special irony in the fact that the worlds most religiously free nation is defending itself against the worlds most intolerant religion on the grounds the worlds most free nation is just not free enough for some peoples tastes?
Hmm. I’m suddenly concerned that I’m not really concerned by what this nutcase is saying. Am I too jaded at this point?
I guess reading every day that we Jews should be pushed into the Mediterranean Sea, and how ugly and money grubbing and child’s blood-thirsty we are, has me reading his missives and shrugging my shoulders. Yeah. Single-state solution. Right. No prob, dude. We’ll all just get along fabulously, right?
What’s one more voice of deceit in a maelstrom of hate….
I happen to be good friends with a rabbi in New York who was involved in the lead-in to this mess. He holds a pretty senior leadership position in one of the national Jewish organizations based up there. He’s insisting that the imam is on the up-and-up. I really don’t get it. My friend says the Cordoba Initiative group asked to meet with various Christian and Jewish leaders in the area. That it was genuine outreach. They want to build a real community center (much like YMCAs and JCCs that you see around the country) that would be a true “beckon of hope”.
I love this guy, but I think he’s living in naive hope. He’s waaaay more liberal than I am, but is smart as hell. I think he’s letting his emotions get in the way. And if his position is in any way consistent with the rest of the power brokers in the NYC area, this center’s going to be built. I keep forwarding new information as I get it, but nothing’s changed, as far as I can tell. He’s really sold on it.
Meh. I think I’m just burned out on all the stupidity running the world. And that people who should know better are still acting against their interests makes it even harder to cope.
