There Is Such a Thing As Too Much Publicity
President Obama is set to appear this Thursday on… The View? That’s right:
President Obama has many “firsts” in his list of accomplishments. Now he’s got one more: On Thursday, he will be the first sitting U.S. president to be seen on a daytime talk show.
Obama will appear on “The View” as part of the program’s “Red, White & Blue View” campaign, which is dedicated to political guests and discussions. He’ll tape his interview on Wednesday; he’ll cover topics that include his administration’s accomplishments, jobs, the economy, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and family life in the White House, according to an ABC news release.
Joy Behar is all set to ask hard-hitting questions, such as, “Who does your wife’s nails?” and “Did you know how pretty your eyes are?”

Or even “How can you get those mean stupid Republicans to stop being obstructionists and be more bipartisan by gonig along with your agenda?”
If PJTV makes you watch it, I don’t think there’s a jury in the land that will convict you for burning the studio down.
Taped? I thought The View’s appeal (as such) is that it’s live & unedited.
Taped? If other pols can manage live & he can’t, he’s clearly got a job above his pay scale.
Taping for a live show says about all we need to know how it will go, doesn’t it?
Sometimes you have to play to your base. The View seems about right for the intellectual level of his base.
The true test of courage consists of appearing on FOX News with a panel consisting of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Ann Coulter!
BW, that’s probably the silliest comment I’ve seen posted on this blog in a while. Beck is a self-promoting shyster, Hannity yet one more DC talking head, and Coulter stopped being relevant years ago. These days she’s all about stirring up crap to get more publicity for her latest book. I suppose I should be happy you didn’t tout O’Reilly.
Rush might be good, but my next pick would be Hugh Hewitt. Other choices depend on whether you want to stay “purely” conservative. Given that, Scott Ott & Bill Whittle would be excellent choices. Dr. Helen would be another. Patterico & Bob Owens (Confederate Yankee) would be two more. All of the above are off the top of my head. Any of them would be better than crap-stirring talking heads and cheerleaders when it comes to public inquisition of our politicians.
Come to think of it, the regulars at Castle Argghhh! or Chez Lex could easily deliver a public drubbing without even breaking into a sweat.
If you allow libertarian or libertarian/leaning inquisitors, that’s when it gets fun… Can you say Radley Balko? Heh.
Shouldn’t they have someone interesting on instead? Nah, guess not.
Next: PeBo does “World’s Funniest Videos”!
Since All-Obama, All-The-Time, has worked so well for him so far, why shouldn’t he be on The View? It’s not like he can diminish the office much more, can he? Like Jonah Goldberg, I say the more cowbell the better.
TL has it about right. Whatever happened to the days when a politician would face hostile media because he WANTED to defend his policies. I’m old enough to remember Ronald Regan facing the media (the REAL media that openly hated his guts) on a regular basis and vigorously and unashamedly defending his policies and principals. This asswipe goes on the freaking view to get his behind buffed and polished. What a coward.
This ‘president’ is an absolute embarrassment.
“The View”? THE FRICKING VIEW???????
Keep your balls and play golf, ya girlie-man doofus!
Good point Delia. What ever happened to being “Presidential”? This guy’s been a stuffed shirt for so long that it never occurs to me what his actual job is.
The View is just Jerry Springer, but in skirts. Maybe someone will throw a chair.
