I have a Google Alert set to send me an email any time a major news source does a story with “Joe Biden” and “gaffe” in it. Needless to say, I get a lot of those alerts. Here’s one that wasn’t called a gaffe, but should have been. Read:

The “heavy lifting is over” when it comes to the Obama administration’s legislative priorities this year, Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday evening.

Biden said now that Wall Street reform is finished and signed into law, the administration could go out and make its political case for its accomplishment.

“Now that the heavy lifting is over, we can go out and make our case,” Biden said at a fundraiser in North Carolina, according to a pool report.

Congress hasn’t even passed a budget — budgeting being its single most important duty. And Congress has no plans to pass a budget before the election, either. Ya think the President could stick around long enough to spend some of his precious (and increasingly dear) political capital to wrangle Nancy Pelosi into doing her job?

On the other hand, given Obama’s recent track record on the campaign trail, maybe it’s all for the best.

Go get’em, Joe!

    Thanks for the laugh.

I guess this does mean that Cap’n'Trash is dead.

Vice President Biden was in lefty central in North Carolina, that being Chapel Hill. Probably got cheers there, and would rightly get jeers where sanity rules. :-)

I find it absolutely astounding (well, not really) that the press has been almost completely silent over the lack of a forthcoming budget. I even have several friends on the Left who are getting agitated over it. Anyone who has the least bit of understanding of Congress’ role in this matter should be outraged.

And it’s the transparency of it all that is really something to behold. I think this is probably the single most striking piece of evidence demonstrating how in-the-tank the MSM is for the Dems. Can you imagine the hue-and-cry emanating from the Chattering Class were the ‘Pubs in charge now, and attempting this sleight of hand?

I’m definitely hoping for change in November. But even then, what kind of insanity is a lame duck Congress going to foist on us between the elections and January? I only hope the Tea Party Caucus sticks together and builds a serious membership. If they can hold their ground and really vote their conscious with respect to budgetary matters, we might just get our asses out of the sling.

    Might….

  4. I don’t mean this in a positive way, but, for Democrats, I have to say that not passing a budget (and not being held to account for their failure) was one of their biggest successes of the year. Not only did it prove that the media is still firmly in their corner and covering their sins, but it provides a tremendous amount of cover going into elections that are already looking grim for their side.

Honestly, I don’t think the GOP will end up with control of anything after these elections, but I find myself believing that if the non-budget story was actually being covered, the Democrats would be facing a truly unprecedented loss at the polls this year. The media will do their bit to make sure that the Democrats still control congress for the next two years.
